The Case of Dog vs. Cat
When you’re trying to create a pack with your dog and cat, you need to block the predatory instinct of the dog and the fight and flight mode of the cat. I’ll give you some suggestions on tonight’s episode. The key is changing the energies of both animals to calm-submissive. Think about it in terms of the animals on a farm. There are many different species, but they all tend to submit to each other and get along.
It also happens during moviemaking! While filming the movie Babe, different species were put together on the set during filming. Humans conditioned them to co-exist, but neither the humans nor the animals were nervous, aggressive, or tense and as a result, it was a great looking shot! Your home can be as calm as that movie set if you commit to becoming the pack leader.

What breed of dog is Bella?
I have 2 dogs. A Basenji 4 years old, and an Amstaff Terruer 3 yers old. I also have 2 cats ages 7 &8. My dogs and cats DO NOT GET ALONG. If the cats are inside the house they are pretty much prisoners in the basement of our house. The dogs automatically run down stairs to get them everytime the door is opened. Even if the cats have been outside for weeks.....They can not be in the same location without the dogs attacking them. I feel bad for the cats, they have been here longer and have NO LIFE....I need help. I have tried everything I can think of to get them to get along...Any suggestions? I watched tonights episode and it started out by the cat and dog each with one owner on the same couch...I can't even get that far.
I want them to get along. How do I apply for the show..?
Thanks, Amber
I would like to drop a quick note to those responsible for the programming of the National Geographic’s HD channel. One of my favorite shows on TV is the Dog Whisperer. I am a 32 year old male with a wife and 2 year old son. I also have two dogs who are important members of our pack. We truly enjoy this show. I wanted to let NGHD know they have 3 very loyal watchers. My mother and father are also fans of the show. I am encouraging my family and friends to tune into this show. So far the reviews have been excellent. Not only does Cesar teach pet owner how to train there dogs but he more importantly teaches humans how to training themselves.
Thank you,
Chris
I want to thank the National Geographic Channel for airing the Dog Wisperer. I have learned so much more about dog behavior than I ever thought possible. I have two femail dogs, Sadie (German shephard mix) and Jazmine (Lab mix). I got Sadie at 8 weeks and did fairly well with training. In other words she minded most of the time. Sadie is now a year old. Two weeks ago we got Jazmine from the shelter. She's approximately 2 years old. She was afraid of everything including her own shadow. I followed some of Cesar's techniques in introducing a new dog to the pack and it has worked out very well. Jazmine is coming out of the shadows and is acting like a dog and having fun with Sadie. They play constantly outside and she is starting to play with me. Gaining a dog's trust by being "Calm/Assertive" is as easy as Cesar makes it look on TV! Thank you Cesar!

Any tips for the loss of a pet Cesar? My sister just lost her beloved pit bull Thai to a car accident......it was so horrendous she had to see him all mangled up.........we have cried for days........how can she not feel guilty about what happened?
My name is Laila and I grew up in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. We have one dog shelter in the entire city and it is about to close because it can't afford to pay rent any longer. There are over 100 dogs now facing the clock who will, sadly, have to be put down if the shelter does not find a new home. Dubai definitely needs a shelter for its animals and they need donations to stay alive. This is a plea to anyone reading this to visit the website and save the animals.
MODERATOR'S NOTE: We do not allow outside links on the Dog Whisperer blog. Thank you!
I have a 4 year old male poodle that goes the bathroom in the house, tried the crate but he pooped in there..any suggestions..he is in good health and a great dog..ty
I have a friend who has two female Rottwielers, one around 11 and the other around 2. Recently, she has found small bite wounds on the older female, and she believes that the younger one is inflicting these wounds. Does anyone know what she can do to stop this?
HELP!!! I just adopted a very scared and submissive dog from a rescue and he won't go to the bathroom outside. I know that my anxiety and fear that I will do something to further traumatize this sad and broken little guy is not helping, I just don't know what else to do. He has been with me 48 hours, we have gone for 6 walks and just tonight, about 30 minutes after we returned from yet another walk with no results, he lifted his leg on the front door/mat (for the very first time). Interestingly, my clapping and yelling NO resulted in his first ever tail wag. He still runs from me when I approach. I am overwhelmed and crying a lot out of frustration. I want to do this right and I am so lost! Please, help, anyone?

hello everyone,
i am so excited, we adopted a dog from the spca. today they're spaying her (she recently had puppies & the owner brought her & her puppies in) and we are picking her up tomorrow. we have 2 other dogs, whom we trained Cesar's way, this one we are using his methods from the beginning, by taking her for a walk before she comes in the house, althoug it won't be a long one, since she just had surgery. she is friendly, a little nervous, any advice would be appreciated.
When I rescued my dogs, I started giving them treats whenever they used the bathroom outside. It didn't take long for them to realize that if they used the bathroom outside, as soon as they got back inside, they got a treat!
My teenage daughter got a tortoise cat about 2 years ago and the cat is 2 1/2. When we got her we already had a 11 year old Standard Schnauzer. The dog, before his death in 9-06, was never able to make the transition to have a cat in the household and they never got along. We just kept them separate. My wife wants to get another dog but we can't figure what type of dog will get along with the cat so we don't have to go through 10 years of separation with them. My daughter is completely attached to the cat and so the cat's safety is very, very important to her and consequently to us. Any suggestions?
I read a book on Yorkies 12 years ago when I got my Amanda that small dogs don’t necessarily need to be walked as they get plenty of exercise just running around the house. So I have never really walked Manda. When I do, even on a 5 minute walk, she stops 12 times to smell every speck along the way. It’s so annoying to me, I stopped walking her. I gather from Ceasar that I need to be assertive and make her walk right along with me without stopping so much.
I have been wondering if not walking her has caused some of Manda’s long-time behavior issues: freaking out when someone walks in the door (even if they’ve been gone 30 seconds) by jumping up and down for 5 minutes. And heaven forbid the UPS Man rings the doorbell. She looses her mind barking to the point I have to put her in the bathroom just to sign for my package.
Other behavior problems include peeing in her crate every time she goes in it (which I have to actually place her in myself), peeing on her towels I supply when I take her to be boarded, attacking other dogs if they come near her (she attacked a pit bull at a boarding facility I used to use who wasn’t supposed to let her be around other dogs, and nearly got herself killed - 15 stitches and a chunk of ear missing later, she seems to have the illusion she is a great dane!), and shaking uncontrollably and whining the entire time she is in the car. She also usually throws up. It doesn’t matter if I hold her or put her in a crate in the car. Same result.
I had always just accepted these behaviors as Manda just being herself - until I started watching the Dog Whisperer. I have sought advice from her vet and a dog training facility in my area but they have all just shrugged their shoulders and offered no help.
What can I do different to help my old woman be happier her last few years with us?
On a side note as it pertains to the topic of this episode, I have to share about my 12 pound cat Skitty who outweighs Manda by at least 4 pounds: Skitty is the dominent one in our pack. When she gets in a playful mood, she will whop Manda on the head with her paw. Manda immediate cowers down like she's being beaten. If for some reason Manda is feeling frisky, she will playfully fight back and the girls will take off chasing one another. If Skitty continues this play for too long, she gets rough and will grab ahold of Manda with her clawless strong paws and give her a little nip. We find this behavior hilarious that a cat controls our dog and don't see any problems with it. Are we wrong in our thinking?

Hi, I have a 8 month old Schnauzer mix and I have read all the information I can and see that walking your dog is the key to training him, but I live where sometimes the weather is not fit for human or dog! Our winter here has been horribly wet and windy, is there anyway to compensate for not walking? My Oliver even hates to go out to Potty if it is raining, I litteraly have to push him outside to go. Thankfully for me he will go or hold it until he can not anymore.
I am desperate for a solution that will work for us, that does not involve moving to CA or AZ.
All wet in Washington.
We just adopted a Ausi Sheperd Mix approximately 12 month old, female. She is a love and very smart and is learning very well, but we have a cat who gets along with our other 2 dogs great, but will not warm up to Sady the new member of the family. Lucky hids and won't come into the family/kitchen area of the house where she first encountered Sady, and was frightened to the extent she hid in the sofa for a day. I have had them face to face, dog fine, cat not so fine, and it is going on 2 weeks and still at a stand off????? Help Please I need my cat back to normal where she can feel like she can come and go as she used to and not hide all the time.
Thank you
Phyllis
In desperate need of HELP!!!! My 11 year old lab Nala suddenly will no longer go up the (6 carpeted) stairs inside our home. She loses her footing at times & you can see she's very uncomfortable. I think it's a mental thing because she goes up & down our outside concrete porch steps with no problem. She still runs & jumps around so she's still healthy & not in any pain. When she comes in from the outside she goes down the stairs (carpeted 6 steps) with no problem. We always bring her with on on vacation to our condo which has 8 wooden steps to go up & down. What do we do? We feel terrible she's downstairs all by herself.
I have a 12 month old toy poodle. How do I potty train this male? Even when the rain and wind is kicking up all the time? PLEASE HELP ME! Thank You, Tim W.
We adopted a small dog from the humane society and have been training it Cesars way. We take it for walks and keep the leash short for control. This little dog thinks he's the king of the jungle when he meets a larger dog. We know from previous shows that dogs feed off others energy. Most times if the larger dog is calm then ours is too. Our problem is when we try to get him under control and the other person can't seem to get their dog controlled. My question is how can we fix this problem if the other person can't fix theirs?
Hi Cesar, I didn't know this blog page existed so I sent you an email concerning Holly, my trucker dog who is afraid of trees when we're in the truck. Please read it! Thanks! Love your show!
We adopted a three year old lab, Sam, from the shelter 2 months ago. Up until this week he has been very well behaved. We exercise him 3-4 hours a day and established ourselves as pack leaders (we thought). This week he attacked our neighbor's cat in their front yard. My boyfriend had him on a leash but Sam bolted so quickly and forcefully after the cat that he pulled the leash out of his hand. Sam had the cat by the neck and was trying to kill him, Sam went into the Red Zone. He did not respond to my boyfriend's commands. The three of them were on the ground with my boyfriend (who is 220 lbs) trying to overpower Sam and unclench his jaws from the cat's neck. Sam did not feel the punches or kicks, completely impervious to pain. Finally he was able to free the cat from Sam and luckily the cat was OK. My boyfriend had multiple bites on his hand and had to go to the hospital. This is a dog that is normally so mellow, loves all other dogs, adults and children. What can be done to prevent this bazaar behavior?
Bob, There are numerous dogs whom get along with cats. If you rescue a dog the rescue will usually know if the dog is cat friendly. If you are going for a pup the cat will be able to teach the pup fast to stay away I am the boss. Good luck, Jen D
Hello Cesar,
Thank you for your demonstration of human inspiration. Thank you for your demonstration of human/animal behavior interventions.
Although your focus is on dogs, I have applied your philosophy and behavioral interventions with myself and my rescue cats. Your methods of human training can also rehabilitate cats! I have been successful on a one-to-one basis. I am still working on cat pride metality. If feral cats can get along in the County shelter, there must be some way to get along at home.

I love dogs but am not allowed to have one where I live. I do have a friend that 4 dogs, and every now and then I baby sit them when she goes on vacation. I am so happy to have a friend like her, and her babies. I have a cat, she is 13, and we rescued her when she was 2. She was a stray. I love my cat, and she is considored a family member. I would be lost without her.
we recently introduced a 4 1/2 yellow lab mix named Katja into our home where we already have 4 cats. in the month she has been with us she has shown absolutely NO interest in the cats and the cats after the initial shock are starting be accepting of her. they are even starting to hang around the same room with us when the dog is present. we did, however, had what we consider a terrifying incident last nite. Katja came up to see me all excited and wagging her tail while our oldest cast Faith was on my wifes lap in the chair next to mine. Katja's tail accidently smacked Faith in the face. this led to Faith responding in a defensive mode by hissing and attempting to paw Katja. Katja responded with a low but deep growl (something we have never had seen from her). I immediately pulled on her collar and reprimanded her. She than resumed her normal attitute of ignoring the cat. Our fear is of what could happen if we were not home. Should we set up safe zones in which some are dog free and other cat free? Or should we try to make them coexist more directly? Please help ! We love all our animals and dont want to give up one for the other.
Thanks in advance

I have a 10 month old male chihauha mix puppy and a 9-10 month old female siamese mix kitten. They are both the loves of my life, but the problems is that I can't get them to stop play fighting with each other, sometimes the fighting gets slightly aggressive. I have tried to distract the dog from chasing or fighting with dog but he seems obsessed with her, and then kitten will also attack the dog while he is asleep or whenever he is quiet and resting. This has gone on since day one and at first we thought it was just playing, but now the dog even after having him neutered has started mounting and constantly tries to hump the kitten. I need some guidance on how to make them not constantly fight with each other, and how they can just "be" together. Thanks. I love the show and I know you can help.
I have a 1 year old female pitbull that hates cats. We have 5 dogs and the others are fine with the cat. The pitbull has killed one of our cats and come close to killing the only one we have left. We can not bring her in the house because of the cat but we let the other dogs in the house and feel bad because she has to stay outside. IF anyone has any advice for me on how to make my dog and cat get along I would greatly appreciate it.
me and my husband have a one year old datchund and a nine month old lab. our lab weighs 100 pounds right now and its extremely hiper. i know he is still a puppy and will be hiper for awhile but we are expecting a daughter in july and im very concerened that once she gets here he will not be able to get out of his cage because he cannot calm down. we have tried everything we know and are running out of options. our lab is also very jealous of our datchund when he sits in mine or my husbands lap. our datchund is the dominate male. but we are also having trouble with him trying to eat of your plate, in the trash, and will also get on the counter to eat anything you have up there. we put him out during dinner time but its still a problem when he is in the house. he will aslo jump on you to try to get food out of your hands. he even licked the grill one time to get a hamburger. luckily he did not get hurt. ive had alot of trouble with him jumping on me while im pregnant. we have tried walks and he is so unruly its all my husband can do to hold on to him. we have a hard time taking him any where becuase he is so high strung. i feel bad because my datchund is calm and acts very well in public and now he does not get to go places like he used to because our lab cannot act right. i would love any help. im most concerened about when our daughter gets here and how they will act. i want them to play in the backyard with her and be gentle but im worried that will never happen. i love my dogs and they are a big part of our family. i would love any suggestions on how to deal with this. im a teacher and so is my husband and we will be off this summer and i would like to work with both of them as much as i can before the baby gets here.
I have a 130lb 3 yr old St. Bernard that is a BIG powerful baby. He demands to be fed he demands to be pet he doesn't like to come when he is called he likes to pull when he goes for a walk and he loves to jump on people when they come over. I need help my biggest problem is that my hbusband and I need to be on the same page and train him the same way but that is a little hard to do since Mark trained him for the first 2 yrs and did not disapline the dog when he did something wrong and now me my 7 yr old daughter are paying for it. I need to learn how to communicate with the dog any suggestions and have that energy that I am the pack leader I don't know how to do that.

Hi I have two dogs, One is an Akita and the other is a Boxer. The akita is 9 years of age and the boxer is 6 years of age.
Yesterday June 1st 2007 my dogs got out of my fence and attacked a cat. I am so scared of what will happen to my dogs. How do I get them to like cats or just not attack them. I don't know what to do. I think my Boxer follows the akita and what ever the akita does the boxer will do. I don't know if I need to get rid of the Akita. Is he still trainable? What would you suggest. They would run after squirrels, cats, ducks...
Any suggestions would be great.

Good afternoon! I only watch the Dog Whisperer when I am at my Mom's house because I am a graduate student working two jobs; thus I do not have the money to afford Cable or Satelite.
When I obtain the opportunity to watch; I love the show. I have a question. I recently found a dog (shitzu, I think) posted him on PetHarbor and in the local Newspaper with no response. Now I have adopted this animal and named him Rocky.
Last night, I was down on the bed and telling him that I loved him and gave him three kisses in a row on his forehead or nose and at the third attempt to provide a kiss; the dog bit me! I smacked him on the nose and said "NO"! I then carried the dog outside, left him (my yard is fenced), shut the door, and left him for about an hour. I thought I was going to have to go and get stiches because I now have a huge spit near my mouth and several scars. I am very surprised because he is a small dog and he provided so much damage to my face. I really "love" this dog but am unsure of what I should do to prevent another occurance like this.
I have two next door children (age 5 and 7) that love to come to my backyard and play with my dogs (especially Rocky [the new dog]) because they will run and fetch sticks or toys. These children really like my dogs but I do not want Rocky to perform another Bite-Attack on one of these children.
Any suggestions??
NGC get all the way down with the DW. I love it and learn stuff from Cesar every episode. He is helping me keep my pack in line and stable as I just got a new puppy (Collie) in February. It was harder than I thought. I just thought my other 2 Collie's would accept her and we would be one happy family. I have feeding problems and barking problems but with the help of every episode of DW I am able to deal with these ok. I have problem with my pool and the oldest male Collie and the new puppy femle running around stressed out with people in it. It is my goal to correct this this year with Cesar's help. I do not miss one episode and DVR every episode be it rerun or not. It never helps to get reminders of bad behavior and corrections. Thanks to Cesar, we love ya.
Hi,
I have a 3 year old German/Husky mix. I adopted him from an abusive home when he was about 6 mos old. For the past 2 1/2 years he has continued to destroy our home by chewing everything in site. At first I thought that he was just teething but he is not growing out of it. I have tried everything I can think of to get him to stop. He has plenty of chew toys, I have given him bones to chew on, I tried to keep a muzzle on him while we are out but nothing works. He is not alone very much but if we leave him for an hour, he will destroy an enite room. I do not want to give him up because he is a very sweet dog in every other way. I also have another dog which is a Beagle/basset mix and two cats. They are all very attached to each other and I do not want to separate them, but I do not know what else to do. Any advise PLEASE!! How can I apply to be on the show or contact Cesar Milan for advise?
Thank you!
I have started to watch this program on Cable TV. I live in Melbourne Australia and I think Cesar is amazing. I have a female Staffy Cross which I got 8 years ago from an animal shelter when she was about 1 year old. I had 2 cats at the time and it took about 3 months before I was confident to leave them all together in the house if I was not home. What I did was to train the dog not to chase by restraining her when the cats were about. This in turn stopped the cats from running. At first I would have her outside when the cats were in and vice versa but eventually allowed them to be all together nevertheless watching their behaviour. I never had any problems since. My dog is not aggressive and is a great dog. She is right now lying in front of the heater with one of the cats.
My 1 yr old boxer will not leave our cat alone. She needs to be where the cat is about 80% of the time. They do play good together, most of the time. I have tryed the things i have seen on the show. But maybe it's me that's the problem i have tryed walking, and playing with her. When i bring shelby back after the walk she's on the cat the second we walk in the door. I dont know what else to do. If anyone can help plz let me know what too do. Thanks
I have had my rescued siamese cat Mushu Mumao(she was found in cardboard box with her brothers and sisters, which had been left in an alleyway behind a local grocery store) since Christmas eve 1999 and have kept her indoors almost exclusively, with only a handful of times where she wore a leash and harness as the exception. I took a great deal of time with the process of finding the "right dog" for myself, and knew that I'd found her when I went to a local county shelter - her name is Molly, and she's a 1 year old chihuahua-miniature pinscher mix. The problem I'm having with my dog and cat, is that the process of training molly is causing the cat to have anxiety-related excessive grooming, which has been aggravated by her allergies to a type of tree growing in my neighborhood - I'm worried she'll be completely bald by the end of the summer. The cat and dog sleep together at night, they have adjusted to the other one being in the house too, and the dog is litter-trained with her own potty area; I live in a very small studio-loft condo with only a cement poured back patio. The dog has problems with listening, and being stern and authoritative, particularly with regards to tone of voice and body language (the latter only when the cat is facing me while sitting behind the dog) causes anxiety for the cat. Is there any way to humanely discipline and train a dog that's silent?
i have a neibor with this big brown dog she say its friendly but everytime i take my kid out side shes there i see him going to bite my kid i told her can you grab your dog she just ignores me and that dog has jumped at me but at me its playing but my kid its like going to bite i told the manager several times she like excuses it and when i have to take my kid to school some times we have to go late cause that girl or guy responsiable for that dog doesnt care and like wants the conflict but before my kid gets late to school every day next year so i dont have to work around that family can he teach the owners some manners maybe respect for other not use that dog as a weapon the pound was called out several times cause she or who ever the guy just lets it out the front door no leash im in a apt. building and theres only one way out of the building i was hoping with him coming to help them maybe they might learn something and help the dog too they dont take responsiablity for what the dog does and its like they dont care and if she has a disability she uses that as an excuse

I am a single woman in my 40s and have an 11-year-old American Eskimo/Golden Retriever mix and two one-year-old cats. My roommate recently moved in to my home (unfenced 1-acre yard is the setting) with a five-year-old German Shepard/Rottweiler mix. This dog seems absolutely great in all ways but for the fact she has a history of having severely injured a cat.
We have kept the animals separated thus far, too fearful of even the introduction process as the rottie is large and powerful and I am not sure we could even prevent her from "bowling" us over if she goes after one of the cats.
I just adopted a third cat (kitten) and am wondering if there is an opportunity here to acclimate the dog with the cat, thereby creating a peaceful pack of two dogs and three cats. The 11-year-old dog and all the cats are buddies.
We surely want to keep the rottweiler in the "family" but a mauling is clearly unacceptable. Does anyone have any advice? Thank you.
We have 2 Boxer dogs and there brothers. They just started fighting. And whenever they see eachother our one just starts growling. This is the third day they have been fighting. What should we do to make them not fight? Please help us.

Wow. I wish that I had seen this episode. It seems to address our current needs. We have two dogs. They were found abandoned as puppies. The biggest problem is our boy attacking other animals. Cats, dogs, rabbits, whatever. On her own, my little girl dog seems to be friendlier. However, when she sees Dan go chasing she gets excited and will participate in the hunt. They are both very good with people. Very gentle with my kids. We just got chickens and plan on getting goats in the future. I'm becoming rather anxious about what will happen. I really believe they can be trained to leave the other animals alone. I just don't know how. I've never really had dogs until now. My husband is rather attached to Dan, so my original plan of finding a new home will not work. Are ALL dogs trainable? Can I teach the dog to not kill every creature?
I Have a 5 yr.pld female Chihuahua named Xena, she is not aggressive at all, really good with people and just a real good dog. Xena's issue is fireworks and thunder and lightening, they scare her to the point that her eyes get huge, she pants very hard and shakes uncontrolablly. I have given her herbal sedatives in the past but that only works for a short period of time, If I were away from home and one of these events occured I really think she could have a heart attack. Any advice would be SOOO appreciated by myself and more importantly by Xena.
I have two female pitbulls, one is 4 and the other is 2. They are both loving dogs and show alot of affection towards humans an each other. However, every once in awhile, the two dogs will get into a scuffle. These scuffles happen randomly without any warnings, and can get brutal. If you have any suggestions on reversing this behavior I would greatly appreciate it.
I just adopted a male cocker spaniel from the pound. He is about 1yr old. He has no manners what so ever. He jumps on everyone, nips at my grandson if her tries to take a toy from him, lifts his leg anywhere anytime, jumps up onto the table and steals everything, food newspapers, clothing ect. I am getting exausted trying to keep him out of trouble. Should I be working on all the issues all the time, or try to overcome them 1 at a time? Any answers will help, thank you
Love the Dog Whisperer series but thus far have not seen a problem quite like mine. Lucy, a heeler mix, is too smart for our own good! How do you stop the dog from doing things like getting on the furniture when your not home? She knows she is not suppose to be on the sofa and does not go there when we're home, but the minute we are out the door, she's there!! Other little things just like this. HELP. What can I read or how do I handle this problem. She is still a pup of 8 month old.

I may have the opertunity to rescue a deaf kitten and I am wondering how do I introduce the dogs and kitten safely? I watch the DW and although I work with the "hounds" constantly, I can't say they are completely balanced.
I have a 7yr. old yorkie. About the middle of Sept. this year he started to bark at people, cars, bikes,& other dogs. Most of the time he sits looking out the window and barks so long and hard that he is Panting by the time he is finished. He gets almost to the point of snapping sometimes when I take his harness off. He was never like this at all before. I was wondering if it is because he is getting older? No other animals in the house. He really was my husbands dog but my husband passed away 2 yrs. ago. What can I do?????
I have a five year old dog named Rocky who is a schnauser. He is pretty good most of the time but he sometimes barks at cars and people who are running because he is scared, I think. He has actually also barked at my dad before. I've tried everything to get him to stop barking at people but he still won't. What advice do you have for me? (please)

hi i am staying with a person who runs a no kill animal rescue mostly cat and kittens but a few dogs and puppies
i am the only one who does bottle feeding of puppies which come from shelters
on march 8 i was called about a litter of 6 puppies who needed to either be put down or have a bottle feeder i jumped at the chance to bottle feed them the mama dog was put down for aggressive behavior i later found out
she was a shepherd mix maybe
today one the litter is with the dog coorkinator a female named roxey and i have a male named peter
both of these have issues with cage /toy and food aggression issues roxey has actually had 2 other adoptive homes and been brought back peter has always been with me
if you can help me in any way to stop the aggresive behavior in these two dogs please do
we are a no kill rescue but if the agressive behavior cannot be stopped they will have to be killed to protect others
i dont want to think about that and know there has to be something i am doing wrong -like wrong energy -commands are wrong something
you are the last hope for these two dogs
i hope you can help even if it is telling us what to do with them to solve the agressive behavior before it is too late

I have a 2 year old bull boxer, when we got Bindee we already had a Siamese cat, Rosie, they got along very well. Rosie disappeared about 1 year after we got Bindee, she was very depressed because Rosie was gone, so the vet said to get her another cat, he said preferably a kitten so that Bindee could nurture it. He said that it would help her not to be depressed. So after we were sure that Rosie wasnt coming home and after a lengthy search we decided to get her a kitten. Well the kitten, Oliver, and Bindee dont get along, she did not nurture him the way that the vet thought. So now I have Oliver stuck in my daughters bedroom and Bindee in the rest of the house. How can I get these two to bond or atleast get along? I feel horrible for both of them because its not fair to Oliver to be locked in a room, and its not fair for Bindee not to be able to sleep where she always has slept, with my daughter.
I have a Kelpie named Jagger that's always getting in the trash can when I'm not home. How do I stop him from getting in the trash can.
i have a room mate moving into my home. i have a 7 year old malamute and he has a 7 year old cat. I saw parts of the episode where ceasar showed how to get the two to feel comfortable around each other. I would like to obtain a copy of that episode. How do i do it? My dog is very friendly, he gets along with all dogs and seems friendly to the vat except when the cat hisses and paws at him then he gets excited in a playfull manner, this scares the cat. how do i get the two to get along clamly like in that epsisode?
I have a 5 month old female shih tzu puppy that we've had since she was 2 months old. She is a very smart and lovable dog but her big problem is that she eats her own poop. I have tried putting the powder "Forbid"in her food that is suppose to make it taste awful, tried putting hot sauce on her poop after she goes which works but the one time I don't do it she goes after it. She also eats other dogs poop in the neighborhood. When we go for a walk or just to visit my neighbor who has 3 dogs. It doesn't matter. The only thing I can do right now is just clean it up as soon as she goes which is sometimes a race between me and her. What else can I do? Her dog food is called Natures Balance. The vet told me to try to change her diet but don't know what else to try. Please help.
I have a female red pinto akita, she is the greatest dog. When we chose this breed we did alot of research, due to this research on the breed we enrolled our dog into what is known as "Mother Knows Best" style of training, which is a hands offtraining which involves making sure your dog does not become alpha by the owner taking over the role of the pups mother. Our Akita plays well with other dogs, a little more rough but not aggressively, and we also have three cats which she adores. Outside of the house she does not chase cats but still has a high prey drive toward other smaller animals (rabbits, skunks, raccoons, squirrels etc.)
Bottom line is, if you have a breed of dog, or any dog for that matter, train them well, and be consistant and they will forever treat you well with good behaviour in return.
Thanks
