Tired Terrier

In many ways, you are the source of your dog's energy, so motivating him really begins with you. Motivation doesn't necessarily mean saying "good boy;" it's an energy. And you can't fool a dog - in other words, if you don't believe it, neither will he. As long as you are positive and see no limits, you can accomplish anything with your furry friend and you can also have a lot of fun!

It continues to be an astonishment to me...how dogs live in the now. I was showing Cesar's Dogs training People film, )which is just a sliver of the sample of excellent information and insight from his seminar by the way) at a meeting of dog lovers and talking about the episode when I returned to from his Labor weekend seminar and converted all four of my dogs to leashless treadmill dogs, I was so happy and excited after, but I needed to call a person back who had really scr*w*d me over professionally and NOW wanted me to do him a favor! I got so angry, white hot angry, but still was also really up with energy because of being able to treadmill walk the dogs without a leash, suddenly my dogs flashed into the biggest dogfight I had ever experienced (no one hurt enough to go to vet but still blood every where.

I was telling that story of how clear it was that they were reactiving to my intense energy that I had been stuffing...when I suddenly realized that they had IMMEDIATELY gone back to being packmembers, gettin along like nothin had happened.

Completely totally fine. Like nothing happened - except for the scars and bite marks on each other! I suddenly got how they are in the now. I also GOT how the client could just call me back after doing what he did! He does the same thing! Amazing!

You can see this exact event yourself in that video film when Cesar is feeding the dogs, and he SHOWS how Daddy (his beloved pitbull) was influenced by Cesar's energy high and low states!

I find with most all animals, but dogs especially, this is so true! If I'm not feeling well and I try to give a half-hearted "Good Boy" to my dog, he whimpers and sighs, but if I get excited for him and pet him when he's good, he knows I'm sincere. In less than a week, with my positive attitude and his energy and willingness to learn, he's learned a whole scale of obedience commands and is much happier than he was in his last home.
I've not seen any of the behavioral problems they warned me about when I got him... maybe they just weren't calm and assertive enough? In years of training dogs, I've learned that the key is patience, consistency, and your own attitude.

Love the show, by the way. Sorry for the lengthy comment...
Sincerely,
~Schantia

This is OT but maybe someone can help. I've heard Ceasar did an episode on a newf that wouldn't eat. Mine wont eat! Anyone know the name or date or other way I can find that episode? Thanks!

I heard a story today on yahoo.com about one of Mike Vicks dogs was going to be put to sleep because it could not be approched my humans. Ceaser this dog needs you! I think you could make a diffrence here.

I am new to watching this show. I love it. I have tried to be calm and it does work. I have a dog Sweety that lives with a cat. some of the problems that I have seen on the show,I am fortunate that she does not have the low self esteem, and aggression. I do fall into the dog leading the girl. I am working on that.

I never have laughed so hard than I did watching Mudsy. She is darling, just plain darling. I wish I had her. To know she only wanted to have a pal, like Big Daddy, was just too funny. Ceasar you and your family have talent that I have never seen before. What you manage to teach and do is just more than amazing. I just learned about your show and have watched and re-watched the show.
THANK YOU. Calvin and Andre are just plain cute too. Thanks for brightening my day as I am a true dog lover and wish for one.

I just want to say "thank You!" If I had't been for your show I don't think we would have tried to have another dog in the house;but we did it! We have had a blue healer/lab mix,Named BLUE a really good tempered dog,who is very social ,goes visiting neighbors ect.to work everyday with my husband ,you know how healers like to work!Anyway,I was left alone at home while everyone else was at work, well,I was too but I work out of the house , so I wanted my work pal too,So just so happened that the neighbors new dog was a female healer{not Spayed}She got preg.with a dog from down the street.so the result was 5 puppies ,one that looked just like our blue {except the ears],instant love!I watched her behavior ,she was the submissive one in the litter, she would sit in the backround and watch everyone else.I started calling her Belle, she started coming to me and letting me pet her .I started introducing Blue to"B elle" he seemed fine with it ,we didnt push the issue, Then the other day the neighbors said if I wanted "Belle" I could have her ,

I am a 26 year old multi-pet owner with 6 cats and 2 dogs. Every one is great but my puppy. He is 1/2 black lab and 1/2 German Shepherd. I got him at 6 weeks old and he stayed sweet and happy for months. Around 8 months old his personality went crazy! He is so hyper. At 11 months old, he jumped in the air to catch his ball and broke his left back leg. Due to the severity of the break, I ended up paying over $5000 to save that leg, as I wanted him to be normal and happy. At 16 months his leg is healed and he is just a hyper as ever. Fixing him seems like my last hope, although I hear it may not help. I have a 17 month old baby and he is absolutely perfect with her and with his adopted momma Shadow (10+ lab mix). However, when I try to walk him he tries to drag me around and when someone comes into my home he goes bonkers, jumping and spinning and sliding across the tile. It has gotten to the point where my heart jumps from my chest at his every move as I am afraid he could break another leg. He listens, but only when there is a treat involved, or I have to raise my voice. Other times the spray bottle is the only thing that gets his attention. I am at a complete loss, as this is the only dog my boyfriend or I have owned, that seems untrainable. Gunner is our life and he is the babies best friend. Any suggestions welcome as I do not want to lose him, or see him hurt again.

We have a Carin Terrier, and after watching the Dog Whisper, I have been able to train Taz and I feel so great being the leader of the pack. There are 6 in our family, but Taz knows when I have to correct him, those big brown eyes of his look so sad, but I stand my ground and he obeys. There is a little boy that comes over and Taz always jumps on him, smells his dog on him, and I layed Taz down and made the little boy keep passing, then I asked Taz to sit and the little boy passed again and he would not jump him, made me feel really proud of Taz and of course rewarded him with praise. But I have one problem even after looking at thos big eyes, he will not stop peeing inside, marking his territory, even after I scoll him, he goes to his bed and knows he did wrong, and just sit. Any suggestions?

I truly enjoy Cesar's shows and watch them at 2:00pm every day and 8:00 pm of Friday. I am trying to find the name of an episode that aired during the day in November of 2007. It had a section on a beagle that was chewing on everything and was out of control in the household. My niece has just adopted a young rescue beagle-now about 12 weeks old- and she really needs to see this episode. I do not have a dog of my own (but have a darling 15 year old cat) so I can't really give any advice.
Thanks in advance for any assistance.

I am a new fan of the show and of Ceaser's training techiques. I Tivo all of the shows and find them tremendously helpful! My 3 year old white Schnauzer was what some people considered to be the "spawn of Satan" but within 1 week of using some of what I have learned from the shows, my beloved Bailey is now MUCH better to be around and much more relaxed and well behaved. It amazes me to see that I was the root of the problem and what he lacked was a calm assertive "pack leader" The best part is---no yelling, smacking, or rough treatment required to master this! Now I have a wonderful pet. Everyone has noticed the great change! ( I wish that I had started watching sooner!)
