Not So Good-Fellas
Your dog doesn’t care whether you’re a CEO or a typist, a movie star or a maid, a homemaker or a homeless person. What matters most is energy you project.
When you’re around dogs, it’s very important to be aware that they are always monitoring your energy and based on that, they’ll see you as a leader or a follower.
Now you all know that dogs respond to a leader projecting calm-assertive energy, but here’s something that’s even more interesting. Once I’ve helped clients become more self-aware of the energy they’re projecting with their own dogs, they use it to their benefit in their everyday lives. They become better bosses, better workers, and even better spouses!
Learn to recognize and control the energy you project and remember, everyone benefits from calm-assertive energy!

Hey cesar-
I am writing to you and america as a Vet Tech student to introduce you to a new tool that our school uses to train and rehabilite dogs that like to chase, jump and walk us fellow students. First, i agree with your training methods and enjoy watching your show. I used to be terrified of dogs and your show showed me that my energy matters, so now i approach them calm and relaxed. also, i realized that I let these dogs walk all over me and my bad experiences with them were due to lack of education about dog behavior. Now I am the leader and i enjoy working with them. Anyway, This collar introduced to us is called the gentle leader, It is also reffered to as "the 10 minute attitude adjuster" It buckes in two different areas that work with the dog's natural instincts. It hooks high up on the neck just below the ears to encourage the natural endorphans that the mother dos shows the pup which helps the dog to stay relaxed. Secondly, and most inportant, it straps loosly around the dogs snout to show dominance just like in the pack when the mom and siblings bite the nose to show whose leader of the pack. These spots together make it easier to control and teach the aggressive or nerotic dog new tricks without using the muzzle. I love this new method because this way the dog can still eat, drink and breathe, most importantly, he or she is also calm and happier. I am sure this isnt the answer to all dog problems and i am not questioning your professionism, because you are a miracle to these dogs. Try this I love this!! From one dog lover to a developing dog lover
Oh I am so busted here! I just came back from attending Cesar's seminar where for three hours he talked and demonstrated how it was about energy and the TRUTH of energy! How dogs tell the truth of where your energy is...How dogs dont lie and he can tell the truth of peoples energy by the dogs reactions inspite of the stories he is told about why the dogs are the way they are.
So I thought why not? I canbe completely calm, balanced packleader and see my dogs walking on the treadmill without a leash. (It was another 110+degree day here in Phoenix).
So I did.
All Four!
Just like that!
I am going to put together a tape to put on youtube showing it tomorrow. In fact Marley the lab/greyhound rescue, got back on for ANOTHER 30 minutes of 2mph walk, with Buddy the beagle!
I was so high energy from that experience Cesar's way worked again! Next was feeding the dogs. Sigh. Yes I was sweet talkin em, high energy voice. I (as in BIG I) was so jazzed. But underneath, I was facing having to call a client back who had really done a number on me professionally and financially,~ and NOW he wanted a favor. I was SO OUTRAGED,I was thinkin and feelin how I just wanted to rip his face off and hand it back to him! (Enter snarlin dog sounds).
And it was real - there was an EXPLOSION of energy from all four of my dogs as they ripped into the biggest dog fight I have been a party to in all my 50 plus years! Blood everywhere - 5 rooms by the time I got my arms into the shoulder bite-proof gloves and separated them.
Cleaning the blood up,(took me three hours). I thought if the President and congress were cleaning up the blood of innocents being killed, would we be at war? Then I thought about how I had been really contemplating wanting to hurt someone who had had hurt me bad in the past.
I had red-zoned in my heart and spirit. I went to war with a person and never left my house.
My dogs got it - and then so did they!
And they paid the price, acting out for my out-of-control energy that was sublimated under the mask I was wearing!
Later that night, floating in the pool, I was telling my roommate about what happened. Again in a moment, I felt that white hot flash of rage in me as I shared how angry I had been. In that very moment two of the dogs flashed into another fight. Fortunately it was over in moments, as I in shock, pulled my energy back and let it go.
I finially get it~ Cesar, the little hidden ways I have still been part of the problems. I can now see how my (hidden from public view) love of the fight, ripples out (as you said in Season 4 premiere) and how I have pretended it is the other's who do it. But my dogs wont lie to me. They show me the truth of the personal work I still need to do.
Thank you for Cesar's way. I am becoming a better person because I understand it though what my dogs teach me.
I am a dedicated watcher of the show, and I have just adopted a boxer rescue and use a lot of your techniques. My dog is a very calm submissive boy and I am a very calm assertive human. Thank you so much for what you do and your knowledge that empowers us to be great dog owners. You have inspired me to help other rescue boxers.. thank you and may God bless your life
Aloha from Hawaii ! I would like Cesar to address the issue of potty training problems in adult dogs, on his show or on his web page. This topic seems to have been left out on his show, maybe because of the kind of problem it is. But I know other dog owners who would love to know how to deal with sudden changes in previously housebroken dogs where illness has been ruled out as the cause. Many books address the issues of puppy potty training, but it is rare to find help dealing with dogs who, for various reasons, suddenly stop being house broken. This happened to my 2 Chihuahuas after my husband left me & we were forced to move 5 times in 8 months! Both dogs were previously house trained but started to go potty in the house as well as outside after this stressful event. This still continues, even though we have lived in a stable home for over one year! How to change this behaviour, aside from the obvious deodorizing the soiled places & taking them outside frequently would be valuable knowledge for many of his fans. I take my dogs out 5-6 times a day & they have free access to the backyard & go out there on their own many times during the day, yet they seem to "save" a little doo doo for in the house! I hope that Cesar will do a show on this kind of problem. Thank You.
hello cesar well ive been watching your show from the beginning and i must say it is really wonderful what you have done with your gift i also really liked how you are a real person and not so hollywood but i must say please please dont let them put so much make up on you the show i watched on sept 7 2007 was one of the good ones but you had way too much make up on lol sorry but i would like it if you stayed real with us dog lovers i hope some day to meet you stay real and bless you and your family carmen
We stayed in FridaY night to watch two hours of Dog Whisperer. The episodes were great, and especially enjoyed the "Not so Friendly" apartment complex episode. My dogs send you thanks for enncouraging us to "do the walk" every day, the correct way.
Hi, my name is Robyn and I just love the show. When my dog gets bad I always say that I'm calling Cesar. Anyway, last week I found out that my dog Blaze is suffering from kidney desease. I'm having a really hard time dealing with this. I lost his mother and he was the only one that survived the litter. He just turned three years old in August. I really need to know how I can cope with this and how long should i wait to get another dog. I don't have any children and Blaze is like my child. I have mental problems and I need that companionship I get from my dog. He is a beautiful pit bull and I want another. Please help me! Thank you
Cesar,
I have a 5 month old Pekinese that is terrorizing the 14 year male Peke. She tries to prevent him from drinking water, going to the bathroom, anything, at times, most of the time. Sometimes she is friendly.
I have tried time-out in a small carrying cage, spanking with a news paper, scolding. I am not there all the time, I work long hours, and they keep me awake at night barking at each other. The older dog will not fight her, even when the younger dog eats her (the older dog's) food.
Cesar,
I love your show and watch it every time I can, even not being a dog owner, I love dogs, animals and enjoy your show. I like to ride my bicycle around the city but must of the times I need to be watching for dogs on the loose. It is always a constant concern not only be watching for incoming car trafic but also for dogs. The other day while I was riding my biclycle, I was charged by a pit bull, I don't know how it came out behind a parked truck, my energy went from calm and submissive to a survival mode in a fraction of a second, fortunatelly for me there was a down hill street nearby and I still had energy enough go for it, pick up some speed and put some land in between. I would like for you to let all the people that enjoys roller skating, riding bicycles know, what is the best thing we can do on these cases. Is there any thing we could use to repel the attack and survive? or even control ourselves ? other than run for your life situation ???, What would you recommend ?, Is there any other why to prevent this???
Thanks in advance !!!
Hello there and good day.
I have about a 5 y.o. shepard mix. She was given to me 4 years' ago. And when she came to me, it was obvious that she was an abused dog, of some form or another. Now within one month of her becoming a family member (and I just went away on vacation) she bit someone while I was away. Since this time, we have moved. Which was already on the schedule. Although I did not find my home just yet and were in between homes, staying with friends and family. Babygirl would not be allowed to follow me. Therefore, she was taken to my sister's home for a month. While I looked for a home. In this time, she was kicked and abused again by my sisters stupid stupid husband.
Once in our new home and adjusting, her and my landlord have become enemies. For whatever reason's. Now 5 days ago, she bit my landlord and it wasn't just a little nip either. Although she did not cause much damage. however, she did draw just a bit of blood for a moment. Babygirl and my landlord never really got along well. Perhaps this is for my unexpected trip to a hospital stay and her being left all alone. With this in mind, I had to call my landlord (as she lives on property here) to ask if she would kindly just set some water and good just inside the door. She agreed to do this for me. Except my landlord entered the home instead of just setting the bowls inside the door. Once Babygirl discovered landlord in our home, (her being in bedroom on my bed) she grawled at her and showed her teeth. My landlord left directly. But I dont think it was soon enough. According to the "nanny cam" I have in my home, the landlord kicked her and has also "clipped" her with her vehicle. She knew Babygirl was right in the drive, failed to slow down and me standing outside, clipped her side anyway. (they have a dog on chain 24/7 and he goes un-water and unfed five out of seven days'. Prior to my rescue if you will)
My landlord is the only person my girl has a problem with. She was agressive one other time, when I stranger approached me. Other than that, she doesnt know many strangers and she picks up on things like fleas on a dog's behind.
Can landlord/Babygirls relationship be the only reason for the bite? She was on her way into our home for plumbing problem (landlord, myself and babygirl were all within 2-3ft. of one another as we talked, then when landlord came towards me, that's when Babygirl bit her)
What can I do to tame my dog of biting landlord. Or anyone else for that matter?
I appreciate your time.
Thank you in advance.
Sincerely,
Kathy S.. (Ohio)
PPS...she is a very loved (spoiled) and well cared for dog. She's also an inside dog.
please help!
Any tips, tricks or hints you can provide me with is greatly appreciated.
Thanks again.
Kathleen
So now here we are 4 years' later

Hi Cesar,
I need help. I have 3 male dogs. Malamute(12 yrs old), Rottwieler (4 years old), and another rottweiler (9 months old). The 9 month old Rott named Hero is super aggresive. We brought him home a 5 weeks old and had problems ever since. We have taken him to obedince classes, consulted a dog behaviorist, put him on a strong dose of Dog Prozac and nothing seems to work. We had a dog trainer here in town take him home with him and he was going to stay with him for 3 months for training, but after two weeks the trainer gave him back and said he was too aggresive and that couldn't train him. The dog has biten both my wife and I many times and I have even gotten stitches as a result. He now attacks my other dogs also. He can be very sweet and loving; most of the time in fact he is. He never leaves my side and accept for about once a week when he flips out is a great dog. It is just like a switch that goes off for no apparent reason and he turn vicious. I am the only one in the family not afraid of him and he challenges even me daily. I have crap load of money I don't have trying to get him to be a manageable dog. My wife is grossly affraid of him and we have been fighting for months about him. All the professionals around here have said I should put him down.....Is there anything else I can do. He's my baby
I know you aren't supposed to answer this posting...but if you can please do.
i have a beautful american bulldog, orphan who found me in the street about 5 mo. ole the bet said he was. o learned about his preditor and agresive behavior when he reached 2 yrs old. i have worked with him i would say about 70% but not have totally followed through 100% with what a professional trainer with him. my girlfriend took him with a little shitsu/bigonfreze mix on a walk this morning and two little loose dogs approached them on their walk one little dog aggressively kept challenging Rupert the american bull and Rupert got a hold of the little dog and killed him. this is the first taste of blood Rupert has had and now i don't know what to do. i washed the blood off of him and have him kenneled. the owners of the other dog werent even around a stranger helped with the situation but not even he knew who's little dog it was. i know by law i am ok cause i have witnesses as tho Rupert was on leash and controlled the whole time except for his jaws and the little dog advancing right into torble but i am concerned for Ruperts preditor instinct and now that he has the taste of blood is he ruined what do i do he is a wonderful dog and is me "son" per say.............help
Hi Caesar!
I was bitten in the face as a 3 year old by a dog that "doesn't bite." As a result, I have always been nervous around unleashed barking dogs because I don't know how to read thier body language--but try not to act like I am scared. Do you have any detailed advice, or reference, for how to overcome this by understanding dog body language better?

Cesar,
I have a 10 week old English Bull Dog (Gunner). I cannot get him potty trained any suggestions? I also have a 3 year old Wennie Dog that used to be potty trained when I got her, but now she to wants to go to the bathroom in the house instead of outside! I can't blame it on Gunner because she (Mindy) was doing it before I got him. Please, any suggestions would help! I love my dogs but my husband is very angry with them both. I don't want to lose them!
Thank you,
Marcy
