Dear Cesar....
I'm a huge fan of your show and after watching it for many months, decided use your techniques on Mickey, my three-year-old Shih tzu.
So, we went out on the sidewalk and I said to him, "Mickey, today I'm going to be the alpha dog." He looked pretty unimpressed so I said, "oh please, Mickey, can't I be alpha dog just for today?" He looked a bit embarrassed for me. So, I'll try again tomorrow (you point out that it takes time).
By the way, anytime someone comes in my home, Mickey immediately rolls on his back with his feet sticking in the air. In fact he does that for practically any dog we meet too.

Hi my name is Lori King. My family and I are desperate need of HELP with our American Bulldogs. I saw an episode about an English bulldog on Friday nioght it was a rerun but I heard Cesar say that he would go anywhere and he was in Texas to help this family to better coexist as a pack while still using there lawnmower, golfcart and waterhose. We are not having issues like but our dogs try to kill each other on a regualr basis especially when one bitch is in heat the others aren't and also when the grandchildren are around the females font llike the maile being around them. As Im sure you know Cesar has stated that bulldogs are fighter bred and are aggressive naturally. We have been raising them since the late 90's them just one at a time but now we have a kennel and are raising and selling them. we are very concered about the furture as we build are breeding kennel. These animals are a part of our family and we do the best we can but we want to do what is best for the dogs and us as a family. we are continuously practicing calm assertive techniques as we are not perfect . we would greatly appreciate any help that you could offer. Im certain that you get these emails all the time but I think that Cesar would be excited to have such a challenge. We currently have 1 male, 2bitches and a 3month old pup at my parents house. I have an adult bitch and two 3 month old pups 1male and 1 female which it appears are going to be staying with me untl the runs are comleted at my parents house to keep the adults that dont get along seperated. I dont want these exceptionally loving dogs to be cage dogs because of our inalbility to maitain the pack. So agian I beg of your help in any way that you can. MODERATOR'S NOTE -- PLEASE DO NOT POST PERSONAL INFORMATION TO THIS BLOG. THANK YOU! thanks so much for your help!
Dear Cesar...
I love watching your show and I am in constant amazement of what you do. Almost 2 years ago my husband brought home a 1 year old Jack Russell Terrier whose owners moved to an apartment that would not allow dogs. I asked whose dog it was and he said it was ours if he wanted it, if not he went to the humane society. I said "but he's a Jack Russell." With two kids looking on, I said we could see if he worked out, after all, I had always wanted to get a dog, just not that type. Of couse he's full of energy, although I know other Jack Russells and I think our dog is pretty mellow compaired to them.
I like to walk, so it's nice to have someone there with me that will walk as fast as I like to walk. Sometimes the walks are good. Other times I come home frustrated that he barks at everybody and every dog. Some people he has learned to ignore because they are there everyday. The dogs he won't. It seems as though he prefers the bigger dogs. Labs in particular. He will play with them and enjoys them being around. He doesn't know what to do with the smaller ones that jump all over. He's fine at first, then after they "bug" him he'll act like he wants to bite them. Also when we walk I've noticed that people will cross the street when they see us coming. I would rather they didn't because I don't want the dog to think that he's scared them away. Occasionally I come across someone that will want to talk as we walk. My dog will bark at them. I always tell them that that's all he does. My dog will back away and bark if they come towards him. I tell my dog to sit but it usually takes time for him to calm down.
I am always telling people such as my kids, husband and parents when they shouldn't pet him because he's not calm and submissive. I explain that they need to ignore him when he jumps up and tries to demand your attention. I watch your shows as often as I can so I can learn how to manage this dog. How long does this process take? I try to practice being calm and assertive but I must not be doing something right. I don't want my dog to start biting.
I'm looking forward to all your new shows. Your books are great too. I just started reading "Be The Pack Leader".

Dear Anne,
I work with the local pound here in WI and I help only the bully breeds (pit bulls normally). I also have a pit mix and a lab living with me now. I am not a dog trainer in anyways but I do what I can for each dog and I feel that I help, right now I have two balanced dog and the dog that I am working has become a different dog since he came to the pound months ago. I also watch Cesar like he is my religon, everyday (enough to drive my husband crazy). I think that you are starting off this alpha dog thing the wrong way.
Try these things (they may or may not help):
1) when you leave your home, make sure you leave first then your dog.
2) make sure that your dog is by your side while on the walk
A)She can not pull you. Look at the dogs Cesar walks. They are by his side not pulling
If any of the dogs I work with pull me in anyways I could break something or they can attack another animal. I don't tell my dogs "Ok Fifi, I'm going to be your pack leader on this walk so......." I take a deep breath, relax and just remember what I saw cesar do on show. I hope this helps
Hey. My dog Lizzie is a black lab and is about 8-9 months old. We've had her for about 7 months now and she just chews up drags anything around that she can find. Like our pool hoses, dog mat, she's even chewed up a cord to a heat lamp in the dog house (5 times in fact). We've tried everything like giving her toys and we even got a shock collar. And beside chewing and dragging she even goes across the road to the swap. THANK GOD she's smart enough to know to go UNDER the road rather than over it (through a culvert)! And she goes to my neighbors house to play with their dog (grandma's dog Sweetie). We don't know what to do!
PLEASE HELP!
Dear Ceasar,
I was really pleased to meet you in Springfield, Oh. You are a wonderful speaker and comunicator with people as well as with dogs. I have currently in rescue 11 dogs and 12 of my own personal dogs. My own dogs are very well balanced and can go outside with each other. I have luck with 10 of the 11 rescues in that they are so much better than what they were, but one corgi that I have in rescue has been a challenge to say the least. He didn't like to be brushed, but we made it more enjoyable and now we have success with brushing, toenail trimming, however, is very challenging as well as being able to put him out with any other dog including ones on the other side of the fence. He will bite even if you try to muzzle him, however, he really enjoys his gentle leader being put on. I know that it is because he sees one as good and the other as bad, but his barking and challenging other dogs has me worried that I will have trouble with adoption for him. I also have another female corgi that has been a bit of a challenge and when we first got her she bit me on the face and though I can control most food aggressive situations with her I have a real fear of being bit by her and I'm having a hard time finding just the right home for her. She has been with us now for over 1.5 years. I know we haven't done all that could be done to help these guys out. Thanks for all you do to help balance canines and humans alike.
Angie
Dear Cesear,
PLEASE HELP US ! ! ! I have some questions for you. Does my dog have to be pure bread for you to haelp me? Where do I have to be for you to come to my house? I have three dogs. They eat the cat food all the time, dig in the trash can, eat everything in the house, and THE WORST THING is walking. They pull really hard. We can barely hold on to them. They can also be aggressive towards other dogs. We can't walk them properly because of this problem. I love your show an hope you can help us.
Your friend,
Ashton
