ABOUT THE OWNERS: Joe Janiga is a drummer/percussionist who performs with groups such as 3 Leg Torso Sextet, McKinley, Klezmocracy, and BossaNouveau around the Pacific Northwest. His wife Margretta Hansen is a dance teacher and choreographer.
BEHIND THE SCENES: The shoot started at 4:30 pm and finished at midnight and even though the shoot took place at night, Portland was experiencing unusually warm weather, and the heat was almost unbearable.

OK this one is easy, ya got to know dogs. As long as a humans eyes are open the dog does what you want, most of the time. If human eyes are closed it doesn what it wants. Night is aways tough with a dog. Dogs are on patrol doing human protection at night, even if the humans don't think so. My dad said they are sleeping with one eye opened. NIght suff is pure nomal with all dogs I have had with exceotetion of one and there was a bang in teh house and dog dived out of bed and I know I would not have wanted to be someone in the house that was a stranger. Trained guard, nothing close to the way this one left the bed.
From what I rember, most dogs sleep in two or three hour intervals. They perfer to feed in the dusk or in dark.
I would gues the people are not alphas. Dog should periodically check the house for noises at night. If it hears a noise that is real bothersome, then it gets vocal, and the vocal of hair back and real dog getting viscious is not all that vocal. Ya don't warn an opponent.
If any person is alpha, ya figure out house rules with all in the famlity, for me the wife, and then the dog abided by them. Waking you up at night is not one of ours. Dogs close to us can bark, dogs don't care, they no the other dogs cause they have socilaized with them and most are biggger than them so they got the situation all controlled.
Overall, there is not any human who can't teach a dog. Many lead the blind and disabled, many shows on how they dog that. They can be drug dogs, many shows on that. For my first dog, parents taught it more than it sould have been tought, kinda like a circus dog, and it thought too much. ie, if one news paper was good, then all the ones on the block had to be better. Ladder climbing was fun once, for doing roof work, but then dog knew up and nothing up was off limits so easy to get out of yard to get all them news papers.
For this instance, I would say got to a trainer, cause they are not alpha. Listen to either Cesar on the show, not for intertainment if dog trainer is not an alternative. I always try to do cheep with advice, so Petsmart or PetsCo would be good for a trainer. We did ours at a local JC and it was real cheep at night. BTW, that was just for heeling and I had already pretty much tought that to two dogs. First night of 6 dogs knew heel perfectly.
OK I dont think I can do a nore on what I just read. A to to, spelling, and Ceasaer was fine with it? Dogs don't beloge in human suff, if they are dogs. Yes it can be fun and some dogs like to lay a head on a pillow or such, but most times heat and such, like snoring humans make a diffence on where they sleep.
For all my dogs, it would take more dog training than I am willing to do on dressing them in human cloths. I know they will do it, but why? They are a dang dog, not a humand and any I put human cloths on hated it. They got fur, now jhow to get under snow with institct to keep warm, do the people that own them know that?
For e, I want a dog to be a dog. I expect to be alpha but never want to take dog out of any of the many dogs I have owned. Pure dog is great. They sleep with one eye opened as my dad said, allway protecting thier humans. Ya can limit bars, never tain it out of a dog.
For me on putting human stuff on a dog, if the show they don't like it and it aint agaisn't house roles for pooping a stuff, then why do it? As dogs all their instints are to watch out for their human. You can teach them not to bark much but why ever teach a dog not to be a dog? If you don't want to have a dog and the best friend you ever had, why get one to dress up and do a child thing on the dog. Dogs are not a human they will never turn out human if ya try to dress them as a human. For the dressing, why would anyone want to change a dog as they come? I just pure do not understand why I would ever chande dog out of dog. They are fine the way they come, just have to train them house rules and that should take a week or two with a pup.
I have a 6 month old pug puppy. when i first brought her home, she would get up to go potty in the middle of the night, but as so as she reached 4 months, she began to sleep all night. that is from 10 pm until 6 am during the week. on our days off i just return her to her bed and she falls asleep for another couple of hours. I do try to exercise her daily. outside walks when the weather allows ( oregon coast can be brutal at times) or indoors with fetch and a laser. She loves to play hide and seek. good excersize. as for clothing on a dog? If the animal is not the proper breed for the area that you live in, then you need to modify. my pug does not hold her heat in very well, she is not insulated with layers of fur. She is also young and not over weight. so, a sweatshirt helps her if she is out on the cold beach.
sometimes i just use a life vest and that adds a touch of warmth. but, my husband refuses to let me dress her in pink camo!!!!!!!! i agreed , but it's so cute!!!!!!!!!!!
every one has ideas and i hope we can be open enough to learn from each other.
