Baby Girl

dw-5-ep-515-doggie-dossier-baby-girl.jpg

NAME: Baby Girl
BREED: Doberman/Greyhound Mix
AGE: 8 Years

ABOUT THE DOG:
Baby Girl was rescued from a shelter and her name comes from her owner's close friend. It seems Baby Girl's name is quite fitting, because she panics when things aren't quite right. She is fearful of linoleum floors, open cupboards, loud noises, and even eating!

ABOUT THE OWNER:
Suzie Dove Miles is an avid animal lover and widely regarded as a "Cat Whisperer" for her extensive work in rehabilitating and fostering feral and problematic cats. By employing similar methods as Cesar, Suzie has made huge differences in the lives of hundreds of cats.

BEHIND THE SCENES:
The trailer that is used to help rehabilitate Baby Girl is the same trailer that was used in the episode featuring ATF canine Gavin. Plus, the DW staff took part in the production of Cesar's "virtual reality" DVD, as they were filmed popping balloons and crinkling paper around the office.

Suzie, we are so sorry for your loss. Baby Girl will be well missed. No more fear.........Please give noselicks to Pocket and Libby.

I watched the show 2 times tonight. Me and my little girl cried when I saw that Baby Girl had died. She seemed like the most precious thing. It's hard when you loose your precious babies!!

Suzie, it is wonderful that you gave Baby Girl an opportunity to feel loved. It is wonderful how you took her from the shelter to give her a home and how you reached out to Cesar to give her a life of no fear.It broke my heart to know she passed on. But it is also comforting to know that with you she lived a life knowing love and then with Cesar's help a life without fear. It was amazing to see her play with the other grayhounds and Cesar's pack. Suzie and Cesar, thank you for giving Baby Girl the chance to have known love and happiness in her too short life.

It was like a knife was pierced through my heart when I read that Baby Girl had passed away. I watched the entire episode in tears and hopeful that she would finally relax and enjoy the loving life given to her by Suzie. I was gleeful when I watched her run and play with Suzie in front of her home ... and then I burst into sobs. My deepest condolences to Suzie and Cesar who both worked so hard to make her a happy girl.

My wife and I were very saddened to see Baby Girl had died after after watching her rehab. It was fun to see her run around the future site of the new center and swim (walk) in the pool. Baby girl will be truly missed.

It was very difficult to watch Baby Girl's story without comparing her to my own Great Dane, Dixie, who was just 6 and shared many of the same fears. Watching Cesar's tenderness and genuine affection for her was so inspiring and touching, and finally seeing her run and play joyously was thrilling. To then read that she passed away from bone cancer so soon after her rehab was like being hit with a sledgehammer. We lost our own beautiful little girl, Dixie, 4 weeks ago to bone cancer and grieve for her daily. Suzie, I am so sorry for your loss. A friend wrote me this: "I am convinced that if there is an afterlife for any of us, then certainly there must be new adventures beyond the horizon for all the beautiful animal spirits of this world."

Suzie, I am so sorry for your loss. I am so glad that Baby Girl got a chance to be rescued, loved very deeply and given the chance to be free of her fears for a little while before she passed away. I have a doberman/lab mix named Baby that could easliy pass for Baby Girl's big brother. What is even more ironic about his similarity to Baby Girl is that his doberman mother also died of cancer at age 8 . Baby is eleven now and was diagnosed with Addison's Disease at age six. He normally has a voracious appetite but when he first got sick, he turned his nose up at everything - even his favorite treats. It took almost a week in the hospital before the vet figured out what was wrong. They even did exploratory surgery to look for a blockage. He was down to skin and bones and we were so afraid we were going to lose him. Once he was diagnosed and prescribed daily prednisone and monthly shots of Percorten, his appetite snapped right back. Earlier this year he tore a ligament in his knee which required orthopedic surgery. Once again, he stopped eating for a week. We had to practically force feed him just to get his medication down. This was even more stressful than the 8 weeks of confinement that were required to recover from the injury . I am thoroughly convinced that any time a dog won't eat, he is telling you he is very sick.

i am so sorry to hear that baby girl has passed away, she seemed like a really sweet dog, i know how horrible it is to lose a beloved pet and my sympathies are truly with you
however, i actually have a question. i remember when i watched this episode caesar found a friendly grey hound to be baby girls companion. i remember i really loved the name of this dog, and wanted to use it for my next pet (a pig!) does anyone remember the name of this animal? i would greatly appreciate it if you posted the name here, or you can e-mail it to me at brooklyntree6@yahoo.com
thank you all so much, again im sorry for the loss of baby girl!

What a wonderful, but extremely sad episode. I can't stop crying. Baby Girl was given a great life, only to die. Why wasn't the cancer found by the doctor when she was diagnosed? I would like to know about her past as well. Thank you Susie for taking in a "good soul", and thank you Cesar for making her last days beautiful ones.

THANK YOU EVERYONE for your kind, loving and considerate words! It is still very trying for me without BABY GIRL by my side, and the kitties miss her, too.

For those who question why the femur cancer was not detected sooner, it was because there were no outward indications until she accidentally hit her hind leg on a car door going to the dog park w/her friend, RUFUS. I took her to a clinic that specialized in that type of leg injury, and they found it thru x-ray.
She was treated at the largest canine Cancer Group in the country - THE VET CANCER GROUP - in So CA.
I was also in contact with THE BAUER RESEARCH FOUNDATION that is going into production of "THE TROJAN HORSE" - NO-Cbl - cancer treatment that, thru trials, has stopped cancer in many pets. www.brf.vpweb.com

I count my blessings that Cesar got to work with BABY GIRL to relieve her of the fears I could not address. She had a wonderful life without fears while it lasted, and she truly loved Cesar. When he returned to our home, she heard his voice outside and ran to the door....something she would not normally do. He is a one-of-a-kind purrson for this planet!!

Again, thank you! Suzie Dove Miles

btw, the Greyhound that mentored BG was MAUD.
