Dog Whisperer Week: Tips For You Pack Leaders
Greg Chapman - Research
Being that National Geogrpahic Channel is in the middle of Dog Whisperer Week, I thought that it might be a good idea to pass along more of Cesar's tips to all you pack leaders out there.
| Bored dogs are problem dogs. Brisk morning walks prevent behavioral problems during the day. | |
| Learn the art of the walk: head up, relaxed leash, with the dog next to you not ahead of you. | |
| Dogs' fears are often human-induced. Help them by replacing a scary association with a positive experience. | |
| Dogs help us grow emotionally and psychologically. |
Check back in tomorrow for more helpful hints straight from the Dog Whisperer.

Great advice! I agree with your suggestion of bringing the dogs to the park and have them meet other dogs. I found that Donovan is much more behaved on his own, and I attribute some of that to his interaction with other dogs at the park.
Thanks for the helpful tips!
can i have extra tips for my pit bull??
Hi Cesar!!!
My name is Gina Olson. I am 10 years old. I got my first dog about 4 weeks ago. Shes a little Dachshund. And I noticed that she is a little toy aggressive. But I all ready know how to handle that. So yeah, anyway, she is also a little dog aggressive because, I think its because she was in a puppy mill for the first 8 years of her life, but I am not vary sure. Also she tends to stop in the middle of a walk. And that gets REALLY iritating. Do you have any tips for me? If you do, just email me!!!!!
Hy cesar my name is Luis,i was hoping you give me some advice,i yust got a puppy german sheeperd, and i have 3 full grown golden retrievers,i want to know how to make the correct aproach so they get allong, please give me some advice.
Hi -I just rescued a boxer/shep mix from a Puppy Mill. He is 10 weeks old. He is a wonderful pup except he fears the crate when I put him in there. I have 2 adult Rottweilers as well. I have him in the crate at night and he screams for all but an hour. He goes in the crate if the door is open and he seems happy. I went in the crate with him to make it a fun place. I have to crate him during the day as well since I work. What can I do to calm him and show him he is okay. He is very smart and does well on the leash. I am concerned for his mental right now due to he gets himself hysterical. Thanks so Much....
Hi Cesar, I watch your show as much as I can. I have 3 dogs Sally-Black Lab born in March 2008; Chubs-Pit Bull born 10/3/2007; and Coco-Lab Shepherd Mix born 6/06.
Chubs was recently fixed and it seems he is more "wired" since that happended. He also has been showing agression when someone approaches. Any recommendations on how to curtail this?
