Aftermath: Life After People: Day 10 to 1 Year
Drastic changes to the environment. Animals running wild. Meltdowns and explosions all over the world. This is what life will be like on earth from day ten to one year after humans vanish from existence. Below are some of the changes that could effect earth between day 10 and the first year without the human race.
Cattle Can't Survive - Dairy cows need to be milked every day or their udders will get infected. Without humans to take care of them, many have died.
Nuclear Meltdown - Super-heated steam pours out of nuclear power plants as spent nuclear fuel boils the water in cooling tanks. Buildings buckle under the intense heat. As radioactive fallout spreads, nearby forests are decimated. Pine trees turn red as chlorophyll is damaged.
Radioactive Aftermath - Large animals are fleeing areas where plants have died from radiation. Smaller animals aren't as fortunate. They live on the forest floor where leaves and dirt are coated with radioactive material. Within the next ten years half the rodents and insects in the tainted areas will die. Large forests have become eerily quiet.
Radioactive Recovery - Trees within five miles of the nuclear power plant meltdowns can't regenerate. Further away, rainstorms are washing the radioactive particles into the ground.
Weather Changes - Much of the radiation has fallen out of the skies. Without humans, cities are quiet. The weather is changing, too. With less dust in the air, less rain falls in cities. The cleaner air increases visibility, in some cities from 20 to 100 miles.
Unconventional Clashes - Packs of wild dogs have reached the countryside in search of food. Without easy prey, they're willing to attack just about anything, including escaped elephants.
World Without Polluters - Without cars pumping seven billion tons of carbon dioxide into the air each year, greenhouse pollution begins to abate. New plants and leaves draw carbon from the air, helping to remove human pollution.

so what is this? some whacko extremist human hating enviromentalists' wet dream?

The way this program is shown, I fear that some kid watching it will grow up hating humans so much he'll go into viral research, hoping to release a plague to wipe us all out! It's one thing to speculate 'What if' but this program seems to be cheering the destruction of mankind.
Dear Folks,
I am amazed at the negitive comments regarding "Aftermath". I found it extremely informative. It is amazing how short a period of time it would take the earth to return to it's state if humans were not here.
As to children being afraid of this program, parents should work with them to understand the programs meaning.
I do not think some "wacko" put the time and effort into this program!
Thanks for the information.
Respectfully,
Duke Johnston
this show gives us insight into what would happen if humans were to suddenly not be around. Virus, pandemic, asteroid, disease or we had to vacate our planet in the future. It tells about how we benefit the planet and how we have made a mess of things. such as the visiblity from 20 to 100 miles. It only gives insight, makes you think in another way. watch HOW THE EARTH WAS MADE and its very informative as well. it encourages critical thinking. We humans are not going to be around forver.
Did you have an English major as the science and engineering advisor to this program? Some of the technical points were misleading and inaccurate. That said some truly serious threats were ignored. It did manage to break at least two laws of physics with it's claims before I stopped counting. Very poorly done for a NG product.
I thought the program was very interesting. After I saw the show I really started to think of how much of an impact humans have on the planet. I don't know how on target this hypothesis is but intersting to say the least.
Totally bizare, how could every person on the planet disappear but the animals would survive. Very puzzling.
The Rapture. (kidding)
i am curious and am trying to find what they say would be the most likely reason for humans to go extinct? and wouldnt there be any servivors , keeping in mind that humans are the ultimate survivors and adaptors. is this just a what if humans just droped dead. or is it a something is gonna happen, or a possiblility of things happen to wipe out humans? anyone know??
Ok... maybe some of you missed the point of the show. It was truly mixing fantasy with reality.
The people were not wiped out by a virus, pandemic, asteroid, disease, etc... if they were, that would setup a whole different premise of what would happen afterwards...i.e. dead bodies everywhere.
The premise was that all humans disappeared, all at same time, all over the world. No dead bodies left behind, no part of the world spared, etc. Everybody just disappears... this is the fantasy part.
The mixing with reality is what happens immediately and then long term after humans are all gone. Some based on fact and, in my opinion, some based on bias.
Either way, it was pretty interesting. But since the "fantasy" part will never happen, we will never really know what is right and what is wrong.
hmmm...the "fantasy" may become reality if by some other "fantasy" we all move to another planet but leave all the animlas behind. look, im not saying either way, but im just pulling this out of my butt, so....yeah. continue with the argument, here.
Thought provoking program to say the least. Not worried about this happening for real in the least. You could find quite a few flaws in the program and after all it just a fantasy people! Just hope some people don't get the idea that we can keep poluting the planet just because this show theorized that all will be back to normal someday! What the goal of the shows' creator was, it was like I said thought provoking. Which as per the comments indicate it did get people thinking!
This is an excellent program!!! Why be shocked, if this is the result of what we do on an every day basis. You know, at the end of the movie things did look much better without us here. All we do is throw garbage in the streets, cause pollution, etc.
Confront the reality is what you wanted and looked for!!!
Please watch the show with your children, grandchildren and young people you know as I believe the whole premise of the show was to provoke us into thinking what we are doing to the planet, maybe this will inspire teenagers and children who watch the show to enter the world of physics and science which are sorely needed because of our terrible educational system, if we had not had thought provoking interaction we would not have a vaccine for polio, or a cure for syphylis, or a vaccine for small pox. Today we exchange information by electronic media, the scientist of the past used paper, but all exchanged information and used chemistry and physics to improve the planet.
It was so refreshing to know that when man is gone the earth will heal itself from the damage man placed upon it. Man is the most dangerous creature on the planet. Good riddens!!!

"Cheering the destruction of mankind"???
Where did the show say anything like that?
All it did was show what would happen to everything manmade if we were to just disapear. It's meant to show how much of an impact on our planet we have, plain and simple.
instead of people spending millions on movies, advertising etc., why don't they plant trees, develope a 100 mile/gallon car, synthetic paper. All these tree hugger psychos need to get a life and actually do something about it, like the above named (oh yea, and stop driving up in gas guzzlers to their tree-hugging rallies)
Great show; obviously fantasy and speculation but the take home for me was the first hour discussion of all the systems that would start to fail when people don't show up to work. Think about a pandemic with 30-50% absenteeism; what are our priority systems? How would you reassign people to manage functions?
The second hour was just interesting to think about the impact humans actually have on our planet. Obviously the only reason we think about it is because we are HUMAN and can think - not just respond and react.
these videos are spicy but it can be better
Is this supposed to be a documentary? We already have ruins of cities where we can see how things decay after we leave them. Chernobyl. Do they just throw in global human instant extinction as an added bonus?
The Gospel according to God...
After Jesus comes back to get those that are living by faith in Him, the earth is left desolate for 1000 years. The earth will again be without form and void, same as in Gen. 1:2. It will be Satan’s prison. He will have no one to tempt. (This is how he is bound) No one but Satan and his demons are left on planet Earth for 1000 years. After the 1000 years the unrighteous dead are raised once more to be deceived by Satan for a short season and finally to be destroyed by the second death.
Jesus went to the cross and died and paid the price for the second death for all those who are living by faith in Him. Anyone can repent and be saved, why not you!!! Ref. Rev. 20:2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 14
Read John 3:16 & Romans 5
How do I get a hold of a copy of this show? I would mind veiwing it. Is it available through a video outlet or can it be downloaded somewhere?
