A War Revisited...

About six months ago I had the honor of sitting down with a number of Vietnam Veterans to ask about what life during and after the war. As a person that was not alive for the conflict, and having only heard stories from my uncle that served, I wanted to hear more straight from the people that were on the ground. I have seen many documentaries, and movies and read many articles and books on the subject, but still thought there was no comparison to hearing straight from the veterans. I wanted to know how a human being can cope with being in the middle of a war zone. I wanted to know how these soilders felt coming back home.

What I got was everything I expected and a whole lot more. From stories about heroic actions to these soilders giving advice to current veterans on how to deal with life when they return, it was an experience I won't soon forget.

Tonight I watched the story put together on the Vietnam war. I cried thru some of it but it was the truth. We were let down by people here. I will never forget that I had to remove my uniform when arriving at an air base in CA after I got out. I had to leave in street gear. I'll never forget the men in power that never understood that we were winning the war.

I still dislike the hippies and drsft card burners back here. Now that they are grown up I hope they realize what they did to US!

give me a break natgeo... not to belittle or discredit those who served/serve, but if you think the U.S. was in Vietnam to fight communism you probably think the U.S. is in Iraq to find WMDs... Where were you during FSB Ripcord George W.?
