Modern Darwin: Brad Williamson

Brad WilliamsonBrad Williamson is a long-time, Kansas biology teacher who has taught in small, rural schools, large suburban high schools, community colleges and universities for more than 30 years. Throughout his career he has taken an active role in biology education reform programs such as NSF's Global Lab Project, NSF's GLOBE project and NSF's Project GENE.

Along with Chip Taylor, in 1992, Williamson co-founded the internationally known Monarch Watch project that involves students and other citizen scientists in the study andconservation of the monarch butterfly. He is co-author of the web-intensive, high school biology text, Biology, Exploring Life. Currently Williamson is working with the UKanTeach program at the University of Kansas helping to prepare the next generation of science and math teachers. He has served in a number of leadership roles during his career, including president of the National Association of Biology Teachers in 2002. As a member of the Kansas science standards writing committee in 1999, Williamson was directly involved from the outset of the Kansas evolution education controversy. He has taken a prominent role promoting and defending good science education, both locally and nationally.

Evolution with Darwin's theory, I didn't realize there were people out there that actually still believe some guys theory's from a hundred years ago. LOL Too funny. Ohh ya my relatives are monkeys!!!!!! What??? It is so WRONG to teach this to our Children!

So we have the wrong theories being taught, and now we have religion which is wrong, trying to stop it! Crazy!!
As Jessie Ventura put it: Religion is a crutch for the weak minded!

No more free will left anymore, so sad

As far as I can tell, there really only seems to be two world views as to how life began. We have the evolution model and we have the creation model. One of these two hypothesis has got to be the answer--unless you know of a third philosophy?

The truth is that both models are really nothing more than philosophy. Evolution, in the macro-sense cannot be tested or repeated in a laboratory any more than creation can. Yet, both of these hypothesis can be tested by studying the evidence left behind--our earth, and the universe for that matter.

Which ever model the evidence better supports, is the most likely answer to the age old question, where does life come from? That is the only question that evolutionists and creationists are actually debating. As far as microevolution is concerned--a variation within a species, there is no argument. That kind of evolution is predictable, testable and agreed upon by both models.

Students should be given the freedom to consider and study both possibilities...only then is critical thinking really being honored. Otherwise, our children are being indoctrinated by one theory.

Why does one of the two have to be right? There could be other answers. Creationist always have the same answers. No matter what, your answers always lead down the same road. You have no interest in the truth. Look at ther fossil record. Actually look. Study it. There is no argument against micro because it does not interfere with the churches model. Any creature that has a short life span is closely watched. All of wich have shown signs of evolution. From fruit flies to hiv. There is rock solid evidence for evolution. Gentiics and evolution are a real thing. We must learn more. Creationists dont believe in evolution. The science stops there. That is the final answer. We cant have organizations leading the way for the scientific community that dont open all doors. A student should strive for the answer. Not close the book.

hmsbeagle, that's kind of funny to hear you say when in fact it is the evolutionists who want the doors closed to any other possible theories.

I agree that students should have access to all the possible theories and sciences. We should start by educating people as to just what Creation Science is. By your post, as well as by many others, I can see that most folks are misinformed even to the simple understanding of Creation Science and what it is.
