Have Questions About Guantanamo? Ask Our Experts

This Sunday, we'll premiere Explorer: Inside Guantanamo. Given exclusive access, director/producer Bonni Cohen & crew spent three months inside the controversial facility. The film features, among many personalities and options, Sergeant Jane Smith, who was stationed at Guantanamo Bay from January 2005 to January 2006.

So what do you want to know about Guantanamo? Both Bonni Cohen & Sergeant Smith will be visiting our offices this week and we'll be chatting with them. What questions do you have for them? Post your questions in the comments!

Also, on Tuesday night, we'll be hosting a screening and panel discussion about the film. The panel will be moderated by Fox News Channel's Chris Wallace and will feature a panel of experts including current and former Guantanamo officials, who will offer diverse perspectives on the prison. You can join us here at Inside NGC for a live-blogging event that night, where we'll cover the discussion.

I think perhaps you need to either learn more, or extend the truth; which, National Geographic has not done. I have a real problem with watching television media, and production, companies, continuing to aide in cover-ups. President Obama has not elected to have Guantanamo Bay closed; in fact what he elected was to think about closing Guantanamo Bay in one year – Think about it! Not only that he left all of the provisions to secretly torture our captives to remain in use by our military forces. I’m disgusted that National Geographic would sponsor a lie and help the continuation of its cover-up. Is the National Geographic under the control of the Federal Reserves (which are not federal at all)?

Finally! A complete and fair account of Guantanamo Bay! While correcting many of the misconceptions about the prison that have gone unchecked for too long, the program also presented the the viewpoints of all sides and factual information that has been ignored. I appreciate, as a viewer and a citizen, the trust that National Geographic extends to the audience to make up our own minds about this issue. My conclusions: this situation developed because the war on terrorism is different from all previous wars and we are having to adapt the rules as we go; the legal process in the US, though long and arduous, is working; and the earlier missteps in the treatment of detainees have been corrected. If we continue to balance basic human rights of detainees with protecting civilians everywhere from terror, we will eventually gain the respect of the world. Some only see what they want to see, regardless of the truth. If we close Guantanmo Bay prison to pacify those people, we only move the problem to another location. Thanks again for a great program.

Thank you for the documentary on GITMO. It appears that America has forgotten that these guys are not in GITMO for writing bad checks....they are in there for a reason. I hope they are not sent to America....please not in our backyard!

I guess based on the previous comments that we are all informed Americans and I personally believe that we extend greater rights to our "prisoners" than we get. I still feel that there is a leftist leaning in this programing but at least there is dialogue.

The documentary on gitmo? Was that like part one? Obama closed gitmo, jaja that's a joke, watch sports fans, he'll come up with a story, about changes to gitmo, we do not torture, blah, blah, blah first let me say, There only difference between Repubican and democrats is the outer packaging. Yes Obama has a better presents, but it all the same, business, power and money. Does America remember when the Navy took gitmo back? When they lost it? A lot has happen on gitmo but does America care? does America know that 95% of the population on gitmo are alcoholics? There's nothing to do on that base! do you think the guard just thouht it was a good idea to harass the prisoner because, what? maybe because they where DRUNK? Why would a US solider strip the prisoner and belittle them? Let see after morning muster, 0900 strip prisoner. 1000 hr,...there's so much going on and maybe America is not ready for the truth.
Then not to place prisoners in "my back yard" Are you kidding? America goes in any backyard it wants too, so it's fair to say when you take it somebody out of it's original country you save in yours. Maybe you should watch some NGC on prisons and gangland's, there some much worst in your back yard. Also remember the country the hijacker came from?
I originally came here to do something about the shark fin thing, came across this subject and if the Asian's think shark fin and tigers are the secret ingredients to sexual stamina, then the world isn't ready for the truth.
