Living With a Cult
Prudence Welch
Former Strong City Member
All-New Inside a Cult: Messiah on Trial gives an in-depth look at the inner workings of the sect and the trial of their self-proclaimed messiah.
I was a member of Strong City for 15 years; long enough to have grown from girl to woman. Long enough to discover marriage and motherhood. While that sounds normal, doing "normal" things was always a challenge in Strong City.
There was an unspoken disapproval that often permeated the unique culture of our isolated group. Unspoken, yes. But you could feel it.
Then, as years passed, those disapproving glances finally did give way to a voice. And in time, there were no more families at Strong City. Wayne Bent said we could only be married to him.
When I left Strong City, I was just going to "go away." I simply wanted to live a quiet life, no longer stuck within the clenched circle of those who'd looked down upon me.

Prudence YOU did what is right to question this "Bentmans" thinking and actions that opened your eyes.
The Lord lead you out of there and will lead you all the way home.
Dont ever look back and just keep looking forward.
But if even that is just too hard, Prudence look up!
He has promised to bless and keep you.
Its just a terrible travesty his other followers cannot see what you and many others can see.
Looking at how these people are totally focused on this mere man, worshiping and adoring him, shows their total devotion to a man who is willing to go to any length to do evil while claiming divinity.
God will only be mocked for so long and when He stands up and says "Enough is Enough", Bentman and his followers will realize their wrong doings and sins.
Plain and simple: Blasphemy!
Their demise won't be a pretty one, just look at all the other cults who went down this same road.
I and countless others will lift you up in prayer because of the hard work you did in exposing him. You've sacrificed too much and now is the time for you to make up for those lost years.
Praying for you!
Dr Gauen
I have watched the documentary on this fella and the kind of things that went on in this place is enough to have a long lasting effect on anyone that came into contact with this type of living. I am a religious person, however, with what you have been through all the advice in the world would just be something else you would have to pray about and work through, because you have been through some tough times. Very tough. Time takes care of a lot of things, and heals many hurts, though they may never go away and there is always a scar, it does heal. And God is so good, and so just, and so wonderful, just like you. I believe in you and I believe that with time, you will have your happy ending. Life for you has just started, make the very best of it! The world is yours, and it has so many good things to offer, and I truly from my heart wish you the very best, for now and for always. Keep up the good work friend, and may God richly bless you and yours forever and ever. God Bless, and sometimes let us know how things are going, you have more support then you could ever know...Your Pal, Bill.
