Alone in the Wild Fun Fact
Eskimo potato (Hedysarum alpinum) is favorite food of many bears. Prolific in the Yukon area, the root of the plant can also provide Ed with essential nutrients while he's living in the wilderness. However, the Eskimo potato is almost identical to a plant with toxic roots, so Ed will have to be careful in choosing plants to eat. Confusion over differentiating between the plants is rumoured to have led to the death of Christopher McCandless, documented in the book 'Into The Wild'. See more at Alone in the Wild

Where did they find this clown? Alone with a knife, rifle, cooking pot and the clothes on his back....BUT WAIT...there is an axe, a machete, a camo tarp, a fishing pole......whats next a McDonalds down the hill. Then he is crying on the second day in front of the camera. No thanks I will stick to Les and Bear...real survivalists. This guy is a sad sample of life in the wild..
I don't know if its fair to call Ed a clown - but he isn't a professional survivalist like les and Bear. Plus, he's out there on his own without a camera crew like they have for 3 months. Ed is a guy who loves adventure and the outdoors, but doesn't pretend to be an expert. This is as much about human psyche and the psychology of being alone than it is a survival show. However, no McDonald's, sorry.
A clown?? You should really investigate Eds situation and do a little background on what his adventure really consists of. The Info is all on the site so just read it. The sad part is that people these days are so ignorant and cant appreciate or understand what this really consists of. Hes not some special ops survivalist out of the military but simply an ordinary outdoorsman with a great understanding of camera and video equipment. Most ppl these days cant even catch a fish to survive let alone even attempt to take on sucha period of long isolation. I applaud Eds bravery and hope his trip can be a lil more appreciated.
It kinda sounds like some people might be jealous. Here this handsome man is an average Joe,with filming experience doing something 90% of us would be scared to death to do. You pass judgement on him when was the last time u got off the couch and attempted something like this. Good luck Ed! God be with you!
i would love it if they picked me todo that show i spend 95% of my time in the deep woods of tenn and live the grizzly adams life style it isnt very hard to survive in the woods takes common sence
