Guantanamo Military Prison
Notorious. Secretive. Guantanamo Bay, home to the most famous detention center in the world, is a lightning rod for controversy. Allegations of torture, illegal incarceration and human rights abuses have turned this military detention center on the island of Cuba, created following the September 11 terrorist attacks, into a potent symbol of America's war on terror. Now facing closure, "Gitmo's" legacy -- and the fate of its estimated 250 remaining detainees -- remains in question.
Tell us what you think should happen to the prison. Stay open or close it? What about the detainees? What about the war on terror?

I believe Guantanamo Bay has been and is a formidable military installation, controversial or not. It has house the most dangerous terrorists to the not so important accomplises to terror. Where would all these criminals go if Gitmo was closed? They would be "tried" and deported back to there own countries where they had first started plotting against the capitalistic West.
As soon as Gitmo is closed, the detained terrorists would be transported to the United States and tried with the American rights of the Judicial syste, at their side; the rights our forefathers faught so hard to achieve. Why give terrorists the rights of the American Constitution if they tried to destroy them with grotesque attacks against the leading country of the free world? It is just not logically right. Vice President Joe Biden stated that he would assume that after the terrorists were tried they would be sent to their home countries. Just think for a moment why that is not a good idea. It is common sense, a higher probabaly of terrorists attacks. Probably!!!
I have to admit that torture is not the greatest thing to do on mankind, but imagine how many terrorists attacks have been prevent from it. Many people would disagree with me, but the governemt can't release all the details of what they have found out. America would go into complete chaos if we knew the whole truth of what's going on.
The bottom line is LEAVE THE PRISON OPEN. I bet that no politician will read this, but it is not stopping me from using my "RIGHT" to free speach if you know what I mean.

Justin, there is a deficit of "common sense" in American politics and the masses. Which shouldn't surprise anyone (with half a brain cell), when given the gullibility of those blindly casting their votes for these polished mouthpieces whose ambition trumps every good intention.
However, Guantanamo, is a mere speck of debris when you look at the bigger picture of terrorists in American prisons. If you tuned in to NGC's prison code documentary last night...it (like most of its prison documentaries) showed how these facilities have become breeding and training grounds for terrorism. Across the board, it is safe to say 25% of the 2 million+ prisoners in the US are home grown terrorists. And not only do they have a safe haven in which to hone their terror skills, they also have a host of victims to execute their murderous intent upon. Inside and outside, the walls of their confinement! In one segment, an correctional officer spoke discussed an attack in which his throat was cut. The scar spoke volumes about his ordeal, yet he continues to work in an environment where these savages plot to kill him and his colleagues. What is wrong with this entire picture? The same dynamic applies to our brave soldiers at Guan tanamo. They must contend with a flagrant diet of abuse, from those enemies who attacked and killed their brothers and sisters in arms. Yet, those who would coddle this criminal waste, can only be found on the front lines when they want spectacular headlines for a ratings frenzy.
So, Justin, I disagree with you...in part. Yes, leave the prisons open for those with acceptable offenses. And while no crime against individuals or property is acceptable, crime is a given.
If the crime reaches a level of blatant disregard for human life, the offender should be disposed of expeditiously. And since we have so many in this country who pretend to take the high ground when it comes to crime and punishment...designate Guantanamo as the
testing ground for those have no conscience, and believe me, they don't. Seal the island off with high powered electrical fences, top it off with some shiny concertina wire, provide adequate rations, a manual in simplistic terms on how to live the civilized life, and turn it over to these worthless vermin who occupy our prisons, pose a deadly security threat to the country, bleed out our financial and social programs, and have absolutely no place in a society that genuinely cares about its subsistence. Worst case scenario (but good for US), they eliminate their existence. Best case...they adapt and learn how to play by the rules, after working through the initial growing pains.
Having lived among these social rats for many years, I know well their schemes and malice for society. If we persist in the worthless theory that they can be reformed...we will face imminent doom from their growing numbers. Remember, they multiply like cockroaches, and have as many members outside the walls as within it. NatGeo, may see a romantic side to this epidemic of gang bangers and prison miscreants...but it's wrong to glamorize this cancer within.

I respectfully disagree with you justin that not allowing them our constitutional rights, let alone there human rights is the right thing to do. Technically Guantanamo Military Prison is sovereign U.S. territory because it is a U.S. military base so all of our U.S. laws still apply there. va loans
