The Real Abe Lincoln?
Must be the Lincoln Bicentennial, because this was nothing more then a biased Lincoln lovefest. Certainly a contrast to the "Real George Washington " episode. Funny because the main emphasis of that was to expose Washington's placement of false sainthood after his death.OK but the same could be said for Lincoln after his assassination! But instead NGC did nothing but place him on a pedestal of false sainthood. Devoted the entire show on his concern for the slave issue. Plenty to debate on how personally concerned he was on the plight of Afro Americans inslaved or was it just politics to win the war? Amazing they went to such lengths and depth on Washington's life including early childhood burdens( cherry tree myth included, he lied often was the theme to that one) to his drive for self serving promotion and of course being a slave owner. Nothing was hardly mentioned about Lincolns early childhood, lack of a relationship with his father. Mental breakdown when he backed out of marriage to Marry Todd the first time. And what many consider his illegal activity concerning the US Constitution. No.. What they portrayed was a perfect Lincoln who spent most of his time brooding in deep thought alone in the White House about slavery. Nothing REAL in this program..
